http://www.ccsa.ca/index.asp?ID=207

The Centre for Addictions Research of BC launched a campaign to support all British Columbians in addressing the harms from psychoactive substance use. "You Are the Link" is dedicated to increasing public awareness of potential problems related to the use of psychoactive substances.

The campaign provides useful information and resources to individuals, their families and friends, service providers, and the broader community.
It will also provide vehicles for sharing and networking across communities and service systems. Find out more about the campaign at
http://www.silink.ca/portals/0/newsletters/sil.swf .

From 1997 to 2002, Prevention Source BC (a subsidiary of Alcohol-Drug Education Service-ADES) coordinated Addictions Awareness Week activities, and developed and disseminated materials for the province. Lessons and activities are archived on the Prevention Source Web site.

ADES is launching their newly developed Making Decisions for Grades 8 and 9. This is a classroom resource based on current research surrounding adolescent development, and the importance of decision-making and problem solving. Modules focus on development of key skills in critical thinking, self-confidence and assertiveness, and on healthy and positive adolescent development and learning.

The program reinforces and builds on the skills and information taught in Grade 6 and 7 editions of Making Decisions . It contains easy-to-use student worksheets and activities.

ADES is also launching their new Web site at http://www.ades.bc.ca .
