Cops pull 4 1/2 pounds of meth out of car - Oregon

Two California men were arrested Thursday night when an Oregon State Policetrooper discovered approximately 4 1/2 lbs. of crystal methamphetamine in their vehicle during at traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Ashland.

According to OSP Sergeant David Beck, on October 30, 2008 at approximately 8:47 p.m., an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban displaying California license plates southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 11 for a traffic violation.

During the contact the occupants were identified as driver Carlos Garcia Uribe, 39, and passenger Ignacio Babdilla, 39, both from Antioch, Calif.

Subsequent investigation with the assistance of an OSP drug detection canine led to the discovery of approximately 4 1/2 lbs. of crystal methamphetamine wrapped and concealed in the vehicle's interior. Estimated value was $50,000.

Both men were arrested and lodged in Jackson County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession, Distribution, and Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
