Comox Valley Echo: Tue. Nov.18, 2008

Comox Valley parents and the public are invited to a free information session about crystal meth use on Thursday.

The session, presented by Mark McLaughlin from the Crystal Meth Society of B.C. in partnership with the local school district, will supplement Society in-school presentations that teach students about the dangers of the drug.

Youth and family will learn how to recognize crystal methamphetamine, the effect it has on the body and its devastation on families. As well as a video and question and answer period, trained professionals and people who have had personal experience with the drug will speak including a liaison officer from the RCMP and Wendy Morin, Youth Addictions Counsellor (based out of G.P. Vanier), from the John Howard Society of the North Island. Free 'Be Crystal Clear' wristbands and t-shirts will be given away.

The session takes place Nov. 20 at Lake Trail Secondary from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
