Can't sleep tonight. My youngest niece (14) is addicted to crystal meth and is street-involved. Images of her curled up on the ground in a downtown city park, of raw sores on her face, and her drug-induced rages haunt me.

The physical and emotional traumas she has suffered keep me awake. Knowing that she has tried to get off the drug and that still it holds her, possesses her, takes her away from us and her young self make me feel so helpless. Seeing how this drug is destroying her and the impact this is having on her parents, sibling, grandparents and the rest of my family gnaws at me constantly. We all struggle to find help for her and ourselves.

In our search for help, we've met many others in similar desperate situations. We find strength from each other, from knowing that we're not alone, from finding hope in small successes. Thank you for this website -- it helps me feel connected to a larger community. Even though it's well past midnight and most people are asleep, I am grateful to have this way of 'talking' to others. Crystal meth doesn't sleep. I wonder where my niece is tonight.
