CrystalMethBC - Meth Information Website FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Category: Main -> I am very concerned about this topic. What can I do to help or volunteer?

Question
·  I’m concerned about how crystal meth is affecting teenagers and my community. What can I do to help?

Answer
·  I’m concerned about how crystal meth is affecting teenagers and my community. What can I do to help?

Your concern is very valid because this drug can undermine our children, their futures and our communities in many ways and for a long time. Cities and towns in the U.S. affected by crystal meth are testament to the scope of impact (see links to American media coverage on the issue).

As a concerned citizen, there are many things you can do to help. You can become a registered member of this website to stay informed about the issues and to include your voice and ideas in the forums (see membership registration link).

You can also sign up as a volunteer with Crystal Meth Victoria Society. The society has a number of projects it plans to deliver, and there will be a need for people to help out with many tasks (more details to follow). The society also accepts donations for projects, such as the Victoria community planning conference currently being coordinated, or for the website related costs.

We also encourage you to volunteer with or donate to the organizations that provide support services to meth-addicted teenagers. These include the YM-YWCA’s youth outreach program, the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society, the Upper Room, and many others. In the near future, we hope to have a food donation drop-off venue – donations will be provided to street-entrenched youth.

Another way you can help bring about change is to speak to your local pharmacist and ask that the cold remedy products and other products used to create crystal meth be removed from the public shelves. London Drugs has voluntarily done this, and other drugstores may follow their example if enough members of the public request this change.
