I am a recovering Crystal Meth addict and have been clean for just over 2 years now and it feels great to finally be free from the demons that consumed my mind, body and soul. It is a long hard battle but in the end it is definitely worth it.

My life spiraled out of control very quickly while using crystal meth and I do believe that I was addicted the first time I used. I lost my job and any money I had went to feed my addiction and my family no longer trusted me. I eventually got tired of finding ways to support my habit and trying to chase that first high. I also watched friends waste away from meth and my best friend was arrested because of the effects of crystal meth. He is currently in jail and has served just over 3 years.

Taking the steps neccessary to get clean was the best gift I could have given myself. I entered into treatment at a house for women struggling with addictions in Burnaby. I have gained back my life and it includes my family, something that I would not have been able to say over 2 years ago. I am now holding down a job and making something of my life.

I just want anyone currently battling a meth addiction to know that there is a light at the end of that dark, lonely tunnel they are trapped in. It takes work but it is well worth it. There is definitely lots to live for and crystal meth is definitely not worth dying for.

I hope you always remember how strong a person you are.... Smile
