How to Deal With Your Acting up Teenager : Practical Help for Desperate Parents

Though written in the 1980's, the methods taught in this book are relevant today. All parents and teens get caught in a struggle as the teen gains independence. This book teaches how to step back from the struggle, how to recognize what you can and cannot control, and how to maintain communication through these rough times.

The book does not address the problem when heavy addiction is involved. Alcohol and marijuana are examples used in the book. I do not feel that the book addresses this struggle in the context of drug addiction. It would be good to get feedback from a drug rehab group on this book.

This book is the "textbook" for the Parents Together groups in BC, which meet weekly to practice the principles in this book. The Parent Together line is 474-6468 in Victoria, and 604.879.6554 in Vancouver.
